MEMBERSHIP OF THE SOCIETY

Membership of The Royal Society of New South Wales is open to any person interested in the promotion of studies in Science, Art, Literature and Philosophy and is an avenue through which individuals can share in the work of the Society and expand their personal horizons.

The Royal Society of NSW encourages young researchers and people with an interest in science to become Members.

The Society offers:

Currently there is no joining fee. The schedule of 2010 subscription fees are on this page and set out in the Application Certificate (see web link below).

Associate Membership is available to spouses or partners of applicants who become Full Members, and to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students under 25 as well as High School Students.

Honorary Members are elected from time to time by the Society's Council. They are people of eminent learned attainment or people who have been benefactors of NSW or other Australian states or who have been distinguished promoters of the Society. There are never more than 20 Honorary Members at any one time. As the name implies, Honorary Membership does not attract a membership fee. Honorary Members do not hold office, vote or otherwise take part in the business of the Society.

Retired membership is no longer available, however, members who are currently listed as such are able to retain this membership classification.
